Chicago Downtown, you could take a train from the Union Station (downtown Chicago) to Illinois
Terminal in Champaign. The train is fast and convenient.
Amtrak trains depart three times daily.
The trains take around 2h30 – 3 hours to arrive to Champaign. You will need to
buy your ticket in advance. Sometimes the train is sold out or can be very
expensive if you buy last minute tickets.

Greyhound also offer transportation from Chicago to Champaign. For more

How to go from O’Hare Airport to the Union Station in Downtown Chicago ?
It is
possible to go from O’Hare International Airport to the Union Station in downtown Chicago
and then take a train to Urbana-Champaign. You can take a subway train (CTA
blue line) from O’Hare to Chicago, and get off at Clinton station. Then, go to
the Union Station and take the train to Champaign. However, this option can be very
inconvenient if you have big suitcases. If you are going from
Midway airport to Chicago, take the Orange Line Train.
